How pharmacist licensing works
A pharmacist is licensed by the state board of pharmacy, not nationally, and must hold an active license to dispense medication. A license record shows whether the license is active and in good standing, when it expires, and whether any discipline is on file. Verifying it confirms the pharmacist is authorized to practice in that state.
